I love dogs!  I have grown up with dogs, and from my very first dog, Tusk, who was named for the Fleetwood Mac album (because I wasn't allowed to name him Damn the Torpedoes after my favorite album growing up) to my current best bud, Gus, dogs have been a huge part of my life!  I also love all animals.  From monkeys to meerkats, I am fascinated by and have a deep appreciation for animals.  

I also love art.  I have been an artist for as long as I can remember.  One of my favorite pastimes as a kid was to draw squirrels I would see from my window.  Slowly, they evolved from looking rather phallic with two eyes and a tail to looking like squirrels!  I have never stopped!  I love to try to capture animals and their silly as well as poignant expressions that make them so perfect.

Pastels

I complete all of my original artwork using pastels.  While I have used graphite, charcoal, acrylics, and oils, I am a pastel artist at heart.  All of my pastel work is done with professional quality, archival material.    

Charcoal - Black and white

I will often work in black and white or monochromatically.  I have always loved the simple beauty of black and white. Using only light and shade to tell a story is like taking a single violin out of an orchestra: beautifully simplistic.  Stripping everything down to the bare essence can often convey a multitude of emotions and feelings.  Also, a black and white piece of art has a timeless quality. It has the ability to be both contemporary as well as classic.
